Why families choose us

Wedding reception halls in Trivandrum, with food people remember

Guests forget the stage lights. They remember the food. That's why so many families in Thiruvananthapuram shortlist a reception venue by asking who is cooking. At Imperial Kitchen, the answer is the same kitchen behind our two busy restaurants in Kowdiar and Venpalavattom, not a caterer you've met once.

Your reception menu can pull from everything we cook: biriyani, Arabic grills, Kerala seafood, Chinese, North Indian and a full banana-leaf sadhya. Our events team handles the hall, the service staff and the timing, so your family can stay with the guests instead of in the kitchen.

Both halls take up to 500 guests. Choose by where your guests are coming from, and by the features your day needs.

Venpalavattom · near Lulu Mall

Moonlite, for big receptions and split functions

On the first floor above our Venpalavattom restaurant, near Lulu Mall, the airport and the NH 66 bypass, so out-of-town guests arrive easily. A movable partition splits the hall 150 / 350, so two functions can run on the same day. Lift and ramp access, soundproofing, a green room, its own food hall and service area, and ample parking.

Planning a wedding for more than 500 guests? Our halls aren't built for that size, but our outdoor catering team can cook a banana-leaf sadhya or a full buffet at your chosen venue. Or compare both rooms side by side on our banquet halls page.

Kerala sadhya on banana leaf for a wedding reception in Trivandrum
The menu

Reception menus: from sadhya to grill counters

Most receptions in Trivandrum mix tradition with a few crowd-pleasers, and our menus are built that way. Start with a Kerala spread or a banana-leaf sadhya, then add biriyani, Al Faham and grills, Kerala seafood, Chinese starters or North Indian curries. Live counters and a BBQ keep guests moving, and dessert tables and welcome drinks can be arranged.

We don't publish rates, because every reception is different. Your quote depends on the menu, the service style and the guest count, so call us for a quote. We'll share sample menus from our full menu, and you can taste yours before you confirm.

Good to know

Reception and engagement hall FAQ

Guest numbers, rates, sadhya, décor and dates. For anything else, call Venpalavattom on +91 77361 61222 or Kowdiar on 0471 2311 789.

How many guests can your reception halls hold?

Both halls take up to 500 guests, which suits most receptions. Moonlite at Venpalavattom can also be split 150 / 350 with a movable partition, and Starlite at Kowdiar sits in central Trivandrum with valet parking. For weddings over 500, our catering team can cook at your chosen venue.

What is the per-plate rate for a wedding reception?

We don't publish rates, because every reception is different. The price depends on your menu, service style and guest count: a vegetarian sadhya, a biriyani menu and a grill-and-buffet menu are priced differently. Share your plan and call us for a quote; you can taste the menu before you confirm.

Can you serve a traditional sadhya at the reception?

Yes. We serve a Kerala sadhya on banana leaf, or combine a sadhya lunch with a non-vegetarian dinner menu. Many families pick sadhya for the engagement and a mixed buffet with live counters for the reception. Our service staff handle serving and clean-up.

Do you handle décor for the stage and hall?

Yes. Décor for the stage, flowers and lighting is arranged in-house or through our partner decorators, and our team sets the hall to your seating plan. Bring your theme and colours to the site visit, and we'll plan the décor alongside the menu.

How early should we book a wedding hall?

Book as early as you can for weekends and wedding season, when auspicious muhurtham dates fill first. For weekday engagements and smaller functions, call us with your date and we'll tell you what's free.

Is the hall suitable for an engagement ceremony?

Yes. Starlite at Kowdiar works well as an engagement hall in Trivandrum for nischayam and ring ceremonies, with a green room and lounges for family. At Venpalavattom, Moonlite's partition creates a 150-guest space, so an engagement can run beside another event.
